BBQ Pitmasters is back for another season and is currently accepting entries for consideration to be included in next season's TV series. But there's a catch this time...according to the e-mail that arrived in my inbox today, to be considered you need to live on one of the following states (only).
‐ Texas
‐ Tennessee – Memphis Style BBQ
‐ North Carolina
‐ Missouri – Kansas City Style BBQ
‐ Kentucky
‐ Georgia
The deadline for submission is August 22nd.
I would have loved to post all the details about how you enter, questions to answer, contact information etc., but the information was sent to me as a PDF file. Perhaps a timely e-mail to BBQPitmasters@originalmedia.com will yield a user friendly format for anyone who is interested in being considered.
Learn about and discuss bbq, sauces, books, marinades, bbq contests, recipes, rubs, spices, seasonings, bbq equipment, bbq pictures, trailers, read the blog and view my website.

BBQ Pitmaster: Week 2
Here's a preview of the 2nd episode:
To paraphrase the promotional e-mail I received from the network:
With one Pitmaster headed into an ambulance, the rest compete for $5,000 and an invitation into the finale for the $100,000 prize. Thursday 10 pm ET 9 pm CT.

BBQ Pitmasters Season 2
I read a Twitter post from BBQ Pitmasters creator John Markus recently announcing the narrowing of the field for the season 2 cast. It took me awhile to warm up to Season 1. Having competed in KCBS contests for several years, what I was watching on TV and what I actually experienced at bbq contests did not match up well.
After the 3rd episode, my attitude toward the show changed a little and it started to grow on me. I began to realize that some of the hype was necessary to draw a bigger audience (and advertisers to pay the bills), but that doesn't mean I agreed with all of it.
I wonder what Season 2 will bring?
