Here's our menu for Independence Day:
-Backyard Championship Ribs
-Whole Smoked Cabbage
-Bonesmoker Potatoes
-Sibbie’s Baked Beans (Family Recipe)
There are some items on tap that are not traditional bbq foods, but every once in a while I like to spread my barbecue wings a little. Two of these items will be first timers for me.
We'll post some pictures on July 4th so you can see how it all turns out.
What is one your weekend menu?
Some version of ribs. Probably a variation of Apple City Champion Ribs from "BBQ USA"
ReplyDeleteDrunken beans from the latest Cook's Country
Chicken wings for the kids
My bbq partner is doing 2 pork shoulders.
Pasta salad.
Buddy's bringing corn.
PS. Love the blog
How 'bout the recipe for Bonesmoker potatoes or Sibbie's Beans?
ReplyDeleteIt's only breakfast and I'm already hungry for meat. Dang.
You're two steps ahead of us (menu and shopping), but we did get the important stuff out of the way today. The wife bought $150 worth of fireworks for our block party (mortars, rockets, and all the good stuff you can't get in Florida :) ).
ReplyDeleteFor menu, we are going basic with:
back & spare ribs
butt
A & W style cole slaw
Kelli's Creamy Mac n Cheese
our BBQ beans
corn on the cob
plus sides from the neighbors
Oh yeah....beer, lots of beer!
Sounds like everyone is well underway with July 4th festivities.
ReplyDeleteHere's the recipe for Sibbie's Baked Beans:
2 Cans of Pork and Beans (drain excess liquid)
1/2 Cup Brown Sugar
1/2 Cup Catsup
3 Strips of Bacon
1/2 Cup Onion
1. Fry bacon and set aside on paper towel to remove excess grease.
2. Drain excessive grease out of skillet.
3. Add Chopped Onion and cook until soft then add catsup, brown sugar and finally beans. Heat to a boil.
4. Remove from skillet and place in casserole dish.
5. Bake at 350-400 degrees until it bubbles, which is generally 1/2 hour or more
True story--Linda's mother gave her this recipe with the notes use "common sense". She also did not tell me how much catsup, brown sugar, and onion to use. Originally it only said 1/2. She had to call her the first time she mades them!!
