I know some of you most likely read The BBQ Forum published by Ray Basso on a regular basis. Just in case you missed last week, Mr. Basso posted a tip on the Grill Forum regarding his method for grilling great tasting steaks. It's receiving great reviews.
Durkee products are available at Sam's Club and other retailers that stock groceries.
Have you tried it yet? My only problem with buying stuff from Sam's is how big the container is. If it doesn't taste good then you’re stuck for a long time with it. Right now I'm using Bad Byron's Butt Rub on steaks and liking it. But the Durkee's powder and the Montreal Steak Seasoning sounds pretty good.
ReplyDeleteOn another topic, I tried my first brisket a week ago, got a whole one from the local store here and put it on at 8:00 p.m. We just had a baby so I figured I’d be up every few hours to check it. Well, every 2 hours I went out and checked the Big Green Egg and it was holding steady at 220. Went back to bed figuring the baby will be back up in 2 hours, wrong! She slept for 4 hours and when I went outside the Egg had shot up to almost 400 degrees. Not sure why, but I checked the Maverick meat thermometer and the brisket was at 220. Most of the brisket was overdone but the thick part was pretty good. I wrapped it in foil and placed in a cooler till lunch. Probably kept cooking and that’s why it dried out? Need lots of practice on Briskets!!

ReplyDeleteByron's Butt Rub is very good on steaks. I usually dust at the end just after removing from the fire.
